There are many reasons why people come for acupuncture treatment.
Some may find western medicine ineffective for their condition and want to try another approach.
Some have a desire to avoid taking medication and are attracted by the drug free approach.
Many people enjoy the personal approach of our members, who take the time to understand and treat the whole person and not just the symptoms.
Currently acupuncture is not regulated in the UK.
This means that anyone can set up in practice without any training or experience.
When choosing a practitioner you should make sure you are happy with their training and qualifications.
NIATCM membership is an assurance that your practitioner is suitably trained, competent,
and is regulated by a professional body with strong codes of practice and ethics.
A detailed holistic assessment is taken on visiting the clinic.
The presenting condition is explored extensively.
Previous medical history, lifestyle, diet, and
emotional factors are all taken into consideration.
The practitioner looks at the tongue and feels the pulses on both hands, adding to assessment information.
A Root and Branch treatment strategy is established, focusing on both the presenting condition and underlying cause.
Very fine, single-use, sterile needles can then be inserted in particular acupuncture points.
Heat, massage or cupping may also be used for certain conditions. You may also be given diet and lifestyle advice.
Most of our members will be happy to discuss your condition with you to help you understand what acupuncture could do for you. Just give them a call.
The number of treatments needed is different for each person. It depends on things like the nature of the complaint and how long you have had it.
But in the initial consultation our members will discuss and explain a treatment plan with you so you know from the start what to expect.
